CoastCare Premaydena
Remove over 1000 radiatas on the crown reserve around Parkers Beach and Ferguson Bay.
Replace with 1500 native shrubs and trees to suit the coastal environment.
Commenced in 2012.
Coastal reserve free of large (tree) and small (ground cover) weed varieties.
Contributions: NRM-South & Tasman LandCare - donated plants, stakes & weed mats.
Volunteer contributions: 2200 Hours from CoastCare team members plus 4 days from Conservation Volunteers Australia. Also, over 200 shrubs & trees and 15 Litre tree poison donated from team members to help eradicate and replace areas covered by large 'Radiata' pine trees.
Achieved to date: Removed & burned over 600 radiatas. Planted over 400 native srubs & trees.
Still to complete: Remove & burn remaining 400 radiatas. Plant 1100 native coastal shrubs & trees.
Overall ParkersBeach and FergusonBay project scope is due to complete by the end of 2016.
