Post Fire Weed Risk to Agricultural Areas

This project aims to reduce the threat of weeds to agricultural land and continue to build the capacity of the Landcare community and will engage with at least 25 landholders of 588ha to address tome of the issues arising from bushfires of 2013 where weeds such as serrated tussock have spread into new areas.  The project aims to provide a quick response to decrease the threat of serrated tussock by providing information on identifying the weed and control in the initial stages post fire.  The project will also engage with other landholders who need assistance with high risk weeds such as Spanish heath and gorse.

  • Project Run By: Tasman Landcare Group
  • Project Activities:

You may already be working with Tasman Landcare/Tasman Council Weed Project Officer who has been working with landowners to control weeds, map their locations and update management plans.

This project has also enabled us to create this website - an important way to bring information to all Landoholders in the Tasman Catchment.  It's still a work in progress but keep checking back for more info!

A field day is currently being organised for late 2014 - due to the busy time of year we will aim to change this to early 2015.  Keep checing back for more details to come.
